Kisumu Equator Bottlers Limited has invested Sh. 1 billion in a new perform manufacturing plant for their plastic bottled products.
The Managing Director Enrique Huguet said the new state of the art facility will enable the company to manufacture its own plastic bottles for packaging.
Huguet said the establishment of the new manufacturing plant was ready by November last year and now the company will not source for raw materials from independent suppliers.
He says the new manufacturing plant has the capacity to produce 30, 000 plastic bottles per hour.
Speaking after a media tour of the facility located next to Kisumu International Airport, the MD says the investment has increased the economic activity within the region.
He said the production will now meet the market demand in parts of East African countries.
Huguet said more employment has been created in the region as a result of the new plant.
Huguet said Equator Bottlers is keen in investing more in the region for the economic growth of the lake basin and its environs.
