AFC wont face Sony in Awendo. The Ingwe Executive Committee confirms team will not travel to Awendo Green Stadium to confront Sony Sugar as ordered by FKF Appeals Committee. AFC Leopards have confirmed they will not honour Thursday’s return match against Sony Sugar at Awendo Stadium.
The club’s Secretary General George Aladwa said on Monday, honoring the fixture after they were awarded the match is unwise.
We have met as the executive committee and made the decision not to travel to Awendo. As far as we are concerned the match was awarded to us and we see no reason to replay it, he exclusively said
He added: “That match is behind us now. We are focusing on other up-coming fixtures. Rules must be followed by all concerned parties.
Furthermore, we also take issue with the purported inspection of Awendo Stadium by KPL. The timing is suspect and we view it as a move to intimidate us by the league company.”
KPL ordered for the match to be replayed on October 16 after Leopards’ lost an appeal it had filed with FKF appeal’s committee.
