Yesterday Barcelona proved a point against hard hitting Manchester City at home getting a two goal lead advantage over city before the return leg at the Bernabeu. The two goal cushion over City gave Barcelona a lead and a deserved win. Breaking Manchester cities long standing history advantage over Barcelona in 2009 and 2005.
Messi was brilliant for Barcelona stretching out Demichelis for a foul in the penalty area in which Messi converted in the 54TH minute.
Barcelona’s passing was world class, spreading the ball well, making one two passes that proved their strength in midfield. Dani Alves taking charge of the midfield made it two in stoppage time after a brilliant pass and a close range shot that beat Joe Hurt on goal.
Manchester City had a good start to the Champions League Match up against Barcelona, keeping their strikers at bay and controlling the game until luck fell out when Demichelis was sent off for a tackle that just seemed fortunately inside the box against Messi.
City had the home advantage and the crowd behind them throughout the game showing the brutal striking force led by Samir Nasri and Negredo in the dying minutes of the game.
They will be heading to the Catalans in two weeks disadvantaged but Pellegrini will have to push his boys to take up the mantle and reverse the goal difference.
Elsewhere, PSG and their prolific striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic crushed Leverkusen 4 – 0 victory. Zlatan peaking up a brace and spear heading the away advantage over the German dominance of last season.
This was a good day for Zlatan and a good game for their new acquisition in Cabaye who helped build a formidable midfield.
Watch out for Arsenals game today against Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid against Milan who have a new coach in Seerdof.
