Manchester City outclassed Chelsea to move to the quarter finals of the FA Cup with a convincing 2-0 win at the Etihad stadium on Saturday.
This match proved to Mourinho and his team that City had grown in its strategy comparing previous results in which Chelsea beat City twice this season.
City manager Manuel Pellegrini finally got his revenge against the London side with a deserving win at the Etihad which left his fellow colleague mesmerized after an exchange of words during the week.
City concluded the first half with Milner threatening from the right wing, making runs and connecting with Dzeko who almost turned it into the net.
Yaya toure’s runs and City’s play forced Mourinhno into making early substitutions before the hour mark bringing in Fernando Torres and Mohamed Salah to sharpen their striking force. This change though did not change Chelsea´s resolve and play much during the ninety minutes given the talents available for selection.
Stevan Jovetic opened the scoring with superb skill after combining well with Edin Dzeko and David Silva exchanging a series of passes then completing it with a low shot into the far post. This was a great day for the forward after struggling to score against Norwich City and Chelsea in their previous matches.
Chelsea also had chances in the second half squandered after hazard opened up opportunities for Willian and Ramires.
Nasri made it two for City after coming from injury to score from close range after clicking well with David Silva. Following up on Nasri’s effort was Joleon Lescot who had his goal ruled out after the second referee saw him offside.
