Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) heavyweights made last appeal to Homa Bay County electorates to vote for the ODM nominee Moses Otieno Kajwang.
The coalition team led by ODM party leader Raila Odinga campaigned their candidate in Karachuonyo and Homa Bay town constituencies to drum their support for him.
The team stressed the need to vote for Kajwang since his failure to make it to the Senate will be a blow to CORD in its quest to form the next government.
Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula warned the locals not to be divided but remain steadfast and look for Kajwang’s victory.
Wetangula said any division as a result of the by election will expose ODM party to its adversaries.
Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho said the mini poll is a contest to determine the viability of Raila becoming the next president of the nation.
Joho said the stage is now set for Raila to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017 and the by election is a litmus test for his popularity.
