CORD leaders on security bill have threatened to move to court to block the security bill which was signed to by President Uhuru Kenyatta saying that the Draconian Security Bill was approved unlawfully.
Speaking during the home coming ceremony of Awendo MP, Jared Kopiyo, CORD leader Raila Odinga said that the coalition will go to the court next week to stop the new security law saying that it was a Draconian Security Bill.
He said they will rally Kenyans to go to the streets, should the court fail to handle their concern adding that the National Assembly Speaker was instructed by Uhuru Kenyatta to pass the bill thus he never followed common standing orders like giving one legislator at a time on the floor, Sergeant at Arms responding to legislator’s questions among others.
The former Prime Minister remarks were echoed by FORD Kenya leader Senator Moses Wetangula who said that the procedure followed by the parliament was unconstitutional and not accepted in a democratic country.
He said a bill cannot be passed when there is mess in the parliament as it was when the bill was passed by MPs allied to Jubilee.
Hon. Wetangula also said that the deployment of security personnel in the assembly was an avenue to manhandle CORD MPs as Jubilee passed the Draconian Security Bill.
Meanwhile the former PM among other leaders hailed Hon. Kopiyo for his exemplary work within the coalition.
Among the MPs who attended the ceremony include John Mbadi (Gwasi), Junet Mohamed (Suna East), John Kobado (Uriri), Joseph Ndiege (Suna West), George Oneri (Rangwe), among others.
