@DEMOAfrica is one of the flagship initiatives of LIONS@frica. #DEMOAfrica was established to help African startups make a foot print in the global market by creating awareness and sponsoring some of the best, innovative and ingenius African startups that not only solve African problems but make African lives better. DEMO Africa gives African startups a platform to pitch their ideas to several investors from around the world which include Venture Capitalists also known as VCs, investors, tech acquisition specialists, Information Technology buyers and media from Africa and globally.
At this annual event African startups are given the opportunity to present whatever they have designed, developed or built to a tech eco-system under the following categories:
This years #DEMOAfrica2014 took off yesterday, attracting African telecommunications giants MTN and Airtel. Hosting several speakers including: Harry Hare – Executive Producer of DEMO Africa, Neal Silverman – Senior VP of DEMO Global, John Momoh – Channels Television Nigeria, with Viktor Okigbo of IDEA Nigeria, and Hon. Johnson Omobola – Minister of Communication Technology of Nigeria who officially opened the event.

As you can see Nigerian startups are a majority in this list, followed by Kenya, Ghana and Egypt. Rwanda, Tanzania, South Africa and Ethiopia each have two representatives, while Tunisia, Benin, Cameroon, Uganda and Zimbabwe have each earned a space at the DEMO Africa platform.
