Residents of South East Gem location in Gem Sub-county have been cautioned to beware of unscrupulous youths who currently hawk expired medicine across the region.
Assistant Chief of Uriri Sub-location Mr. Sam Odembo, says that it has come to their notice that there is a group of youths who currently walk round villages in the region and sell assorted expired medicine to unsuspecting members of the society.
The administrator added that they have received numerous complaints that the youths who purport to work with KEMRI/CDC, were selling expired medicine and at very exorbitant prices to the villagers.
Mr. Odembo said they have received complaints that the youths were selling the drugs for example malaria medicine at between KES. 2,500 and KES. 3,000.
The Assistant Chief said that they have started pursuing the youth to know where they get those expired drugs, revealing that they have already got information that some of those youths come from the neighbouring Central Gem location and others from Ugenya Sub-county.
