Gor Mahia (KOGALLO) and AFC Leopards (INGWE) Kenyan clubs went through to the first round of the CAF Champions League play offs on Sunday edging out Gabon’s US Bitam 4-2 and 2-1 respectively.
Jerim Onyango was the saviour for Gor, saving four spot kicks that could have easily won the game for US Bitam, two before the end of the hour mark and two during post match penalties after an aggregate of 1-1.
Bitam were first awarded a penalty in the 30th minute then later in the 85th minute in which the Captain brilliantly saved to take Gor Mahia to the penalties. He again played saviour for the team when he confirmed Kogallo’s resolve to win the game taking them to the next round.
Daniel Owino was red carded in the 85th Minute after trying to hard to convince the referee otherwise about the illegality of the penalty and he will miss the next match against Tunisian side Esperance unless there is an appeal.
Elsewhere Wanga hit two goals for AFC Leopards to take them through to the first round of the CAF Champion league games.
Wanga drew level for the team with a goal on the 53rd minute after Mulualem Tilahum had superbly executed a free kick, earning them a goal early to lead during the half time break. Wanga led from the front after the half hour mark to draw them level then gave Ingwe a fresh breath of air in Injury time getting a brace and sending them to the next round up of Champions league game that will be against South African side Super sport United.
