GOR MAHIA THRASHES MUHORONI YOUTH TO GO TOP OF THE LEAGUE

K’ogalo yesterday triumphed over bottom placed challengers Muhoroni Youth to go top of the league with 20 points from 20 matches played.

Gor Mahia playing at the favorite home ground City Stadium took the lead just after 25 minutes play in the game that saw the defending champions go on top of the log for the first time

The game was well controlled by the Kenya Premier League leaders, midfield player maker George Blackberry, Eric Ochieng and Ramah Salim who ware spreading neat passes in the game that threaten the shaky Muhoroni youth defense.

Rama and Walusimbi exchanged neat passes a minute later, the latter crossing the ball to Ssernkuma but the Ugandan’s shot went wide.

Muhoroni could have taken the lead in the 22^nd minute after Wanjala lobbed the ball towards the on running Ezekiel Otuoma but the latter’s hard shot went just inches wide.

Gor Mahia’s Shaban Kenga opened the scoring in the 25^th minute with a rasping shot from just outside the box after former Congo United Rama Salim had done the spade work.

Muhoroni won a free kick just outside the Gor box in the 28^th minute, Israel Emuge having fouled Otuoma. Abbas Akinyemi stepped up to take it and his shot was punched back into the field of play by Muhoroni Youth custodian Shaban Ouma.

Abbas Akinyemi fouled Sserenkuma just outside the box in the 33^rdminute. The skilled Ugandan Geoffrey Kizito international sent in the resultant free kick to double the lead.

The hosts were in control henceforth, In the 42^nd minute, number one choice K’ogalo midfielder Eric Ochieng headed in Walusimbi’s cross from the left touchline to make matters for the struggling Muhoroni Youths 3-0 in favor of Gor Mahia in front of their partisan supporters who thronged the stadium despite the game fixture falling on week day.
