Ugenya MP has accused the National Government of giving a raw deal to the children of this nation by holding back the promise of offering free secondary education and relates it to conmanship.
David Ochieng’ regretted that many bright students who pass Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE ) still cannot access secondary education in their desired schools due to inflated fees required in those schools.
He therefore challenged the President to gain interest and prioritize education matters in this country so as to give hope to the future generation.
Speaking at Ogeya Primary school in North Ugenya ward, during the disbursement of school bursary cheques to bright needy students, the MP also accused the Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof. Jacob Kaimenyi of not taking issues of education seriously by taking both the students and teachers for granted.
He therefore asked the president to consider appointing a more efficient cabinet secretary in the education docket who can understand and implement policies that will ensure education thrives.
I urge president Uhuru Kenyatta to reconsider the position Education secretary so that he can appoint more efficient person who can deliver to the expectation of all Kenyans and above all implement education policies, David Ochieng Ugenya MP
The Ugenya legislator at the same time called for upgrading of infrastructure in all the 80 schools that were upgraded to national schools levels saying that upgrading does not only mean naming them alone but by improving and financing all schools.
Ochieng said there is a lot of conmanship in the education sector, linking it to the previous Anglo-leasing and Golden-berg scum that robbed off the country millions of shillings.
Robbing children their rights is as good as the Anglo leasing and the Goldenberg scam which had rocked this country for time
Over 14 million was disbursed to 2,320 needy students of Ugenya Sub-County in both secondary and other higher levels of education.
