Health workers in Kisumu County have suffered another setback under the new devolution process having to contend with salary issues that have not been settled by the County Government.
Lack of pay, delay in payments with no explanation are some of the issues they must contend with under the new County Government of Kisumu and the devolution process.
According to a statement made by a series of anonymous health workers, a majority of health workers working in the County after the transfer from the National Government have not been paid since January yet they are expected to report to work and perform the duties competently.
Employees of the former National Government now transferred to the County working under the Economic Stimuli Program and the Capacity Program are claiming that they are suffering given their salaries have not been reviewed as expected and the County is deliberately delaying to pay their dues.
The Health Workers claim that the County Government had made a commitment to settle their dues last Friday but nothing has since happened with no explanation whatsoever.
This is coming after a series of claims that some health workers staff have been sacked or have even decided to resign given the confusion present in County Governments across the country.
The Health Workers in Kisumu County who remain anonymous due to stigma it might cause, assert that they are suffering under this new regime called counties and want their situation to be looked at effectively and immediately to avoid unnecessary friction of interest.
