Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission are ready sand at for the Thursday Homa Bay Senatorial by election as campaigns come to an end officially this evening.
The commission vice chairperson Lillian Mahiri said that they are through with the preparations for the mini poll.
Mahiri said that the commission has trained all the poll officials who will cover the eight constituencies in the county without any sub county left aside.
She said the county has a total of 326,505 registered voters with 878 polling stations and they are well prepared to work until they give the final Homa Bay peoples verdict.
She noted that voting materials will be distributed to the polling centers tomorrow to allow voting exercise to kick off in time as required by law.
Addressing the press at the Agricultural Training Centre in Homa Bay town where tallying will be done, Mahiri said that they have been assured of heightened security.
She however said that there will be enough security personnel to guarantee the security of voters and promised that there will be no intimidation.
Mahiri further noted that the same devices that will be deployed during the polling day are the same that were used in the last general election.
She promised that the devices have been tested and there will be no hitch during the exercise.
Campaigns were expected to end by this evening as the eight candidates’ transverse the county to woo their supporters to come out in large numbers and vote.
ODM party leader Raila Odinga for the second time led a group of legislators and senators in the final stretch to campaign for their nominee Moses Otieno Kajwang.
However, ODM convoy came under attack at Olare trading centre after some youths started pelting the convoy with stones.
Raila was not in the convoy since he flew to Homa Bay town in a chopper after addressing a rally in Kendu Bay town.
