Kenya Tennis Team finished in top position at the just concluded East Africa Secondary Schools games in Tanzanias capital city Dar es Salaam.
Aaditya Dahiya a student from Jalaram Academy in Kisumu who had won this year’s Boys Singles in the National title paired with Rouben Njunguna
This show a good indication that the Kenyan Tennis Team is improving and will soon capture the international sports news headlines.
The team won both the Girls Singles and Doubles events, Judy Nkaka of Zion Foundation in Kibera beat her team mate, Sadili based Chizi Mitsumi 6-3, 6-4 to take the girls singles.
In the Girls Doubles, Achu Mathieu and Judy Nkaka from Kenya defeated their compatriots of Ruth and Chizi 6-4, 7-5.
Judy Nkaka and Achu will now represent the country in the International Schools’ games in Mauritius slated for December this year.
Boris from Tanzania beat Edward from Uganda in the finals to take the Boys Singles event. In the Boys’ Doubles, Kisumu based Aaditya Dahiya and Nairobi based Reuben Njuguna paired in doubles to take the 3rd place for team Kenya after defeating Petty Andanda and Martin Luvega also from Kenya 6-7 (4- 7), 6-3, 10-5.
Kenya sent a strong contingent of eight tennis players in the week long regional games.
These players who represented the country were selected at the Nationals Inter – Secondary Schools Games which were held in Kakamega County.
Dahiya a student from Jalaram Academy in Kisumu won this year’s boys singles National title, while Judy Nkaka was top placed girls singles winner in Kakamega.
