Jennifer Kere the Kisumu County government education, Youths and Sports Minister yesterday launched an Early Childhood Development program at Nyalenda B.
Child Fund and UNICEF are hoping to work together with the county government to introduce an integrated child development programs in Nyalenda B ward to help deliver on the counties objectives for childhood development.
The program has three components that include building model Early Childhood Development Centers, building community health which includes community health volunteer’s and Community Health Extension Workers to do follow ups on indicators revolving around the child’s health, the last component will include Social Mobilization which incorporates care givers and parents.
The manager of Child Fund Mr. Peter Aduda said that they were going to work closely with six schools in Nyalenda which will include Nanga Primary, Dunga Primary, Pandpieri Primary, Nanga Baptist, Chrystal Clear Early Childhood Development Center and Janet Orphans to supplement their feeding program.
The County Executive Minister for Educations, Youths and Sports Minister Jennifer Kere and the Member of County Assembly for Nyalenda “B” Mr. James Were supported the initiative and said they would work hand in hand with implementer’s of the project to ensure the county supports its children and its affairs.
