The Member of Parliament for Kisumu Central Honorable Ken Obura presided over the launch and release of 50 Bikes for care, to Community Health Workers working in the Nyalenda B ward.
The release of the Bikes According to the Project Coordinator for Coop Africa Mr. Cliff Okoth is meant to increase house hold visitation and improve community work in Nyalenda B.
The Launch was made possible by Coop Africa – Bike for Care initiative, Ken Obura and the Community Health Workers contributing 70 percent and 15 percent each of the total cost respectively. Talking to the District Community Health strategy focal person in charge of supervising all Community Health Extension Workers, Mr. Elijah Oyola, He said that this was a good motivational initiative for Community Health Workers given the good work they are currently doing and called upon more partners and organizations to join in and support the newly developed Community Health Strategy by the Government.
He also added that the Community Strategy has shifted its target from Health Facilities to households and has seen a great change in prevention and control of diseases.
