Kisumu bids Kajwang farewell at Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground, where they paid their last respect to the Late Homa Bay Senator Gerald Otieno Kajwang.
The residents arrived at the Grounds as early as 7am to wait for the arrival of the body from Kisumu International Airport.
The crowd went wild as the casket bearing the body of Kajwang was driven into the Grounds where an interdenominational prayer was said by various religious leaders.
Coalition of Reforms and democracy (CORD) leader Raila Odinga who led politicians to mourn Kajwang said the demise of the late Senator has dealt a big blow to his Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
Odinga during his speech in his backyard assured supporters that a better replacement for Kajwang will be found very soon.
He further thanked the Jubilee administration for the help they gave out following the death of Kajwang.
I want to thank the government for the support that they have given us since yesterday so that we can give good send off to our fallen hero since Kajwang was a Kenyan and served as a minister in this country that’s why I say he must be given a good send off, Raila Odinga CORD leader.
Other political leaders who addressed the crowd alleged that the late Senator was killed by unknown forces and a claim of cardiac arrest was a ploy.
Siaya Governor and Homa Bay Governor Cornel Rasanga and Cyprian Awiti respectively alleged that Kajwang did not die a natural death.
As we are mourning Kajwang they are busy telling us that it was cardiac arrest those are nonsense, Kajwang have been killed, these people have killed Kajwang it is something that cannot be hidden to members of the public, Governor Cornel Rasanga.
Machakos Senator Johnston Muthama said it was suspecting that CORD Senators are the only ones dying citing the death of Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo.
Mutula died and he Was a CORD member, Kajwang is now gone and he is a CORD member how is it that this death only kills members of CORD family we are tired to be abused in all manner, said Muthama
Nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro also made the same remarks noting that they will not be deterred by the demise of Kajwang.
Ongoro said Kajwang was a fighter for the freedom of Kenyans and his struggle will remain grounded in people’s hearts with his famous chant Bado Mapambano.
