Another running battle is looming between Kisumu Car Wash Operators and the Kisumu County Government in Kisumu City after the City Manager Mrs. Doris Ombara issued eviction notice to the operators.
The car wash operators in town have condemned the move terming it illegal in all manners since they have not been involved in any meeting or negotiation on how their affairs work will be affected.
The notice was issued on 6th this month and now it has created some tenstion amongst the operators in the car was operators. In the notice, all the temporary operational license for all the car washers were nullified and the county ordered their closure.
The Chairman of Kisumu Car Wash Self Help Group spoke to the press on behalf of the operators, at Kenya Assemblies of God Church, Kisumu.
He said that there was need to involve the operators in the county planning and relocation processes prior to the release of eviction notice.
He added that operators would commit to any negotiation to end the tussle. He also issued a three day ultimatum to the County Government to react failure to which they would stage a peaceful demonstration.
The chairman of Kisumu City resident’s voice also expressed concerns, Mr. Ogada said the issue of the eviction notice was premature and legally un-procedural.
He urged the city manager Doris Ombara to follow the legal protocol of eviction.
