Kisumu Central MP Ken Obura was heckled by angry Kisumu residents as he turned up for the late Otieno Kajwang’s send-off at the Kisumu’s Jomo Kenyatta sports ground.
The MP who is considered as an ODM rebel had early this month hinted that he was ready to work with the Jubilee Government to spearhead development in Nyanza.
The agitated crowd chanted anti Obura slogans, “Obura must go” immediately he the sports ground and throughout his stay in the venue as even the presence the opposition leader and political king pin in the area did not deter them from chanting the anti Obura slogans.
Feeling the heat Hon. Ken Obura literally sneaked out without crowd noticing his way out of the ground, amidst the public’s bitter chants as the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga took to the podium.
Addressing the crowd on the same, Raila said he had already warned Obura against all listening to individuals who constantly misled him and wants him to come back on track adding that it is upon the the said rebel MP to either follow his lead or do otherwise.
I had already told the son of Obura that there are those misleading him and I want him to come back on track but it is upon him if he refuses” said Raila, I therefore want as to continue as a people who take in instructions, Raila added.
Raila further urged the residents not to allow his political enemies who will try so hard to come between them and his political party adding that they as ODM and Nyanza are one.
There are those who will try so hard to create a misunderstanding between you to start fighting again and that is what I want you to stop as we are one team heading for one similar goal and all those against this should feel free to leave, Odinga said.
In turn of events Obura was spotted escorted by a group of youths in the lake side city streets to show that he is still the best bet of the youths in the central ward.
But in a rejoinder to this, Hon. Abdulqadir Omar wrote on his Facebook wall that he is very sorry for the MP.
I feel sorry for the sitting MP Kisumu Central. There is a swahili saying that’s says. Usikojolee sahani uliokulia – in other words the plate that you have been eating on, don’t pee or shit on it, wrote Omar
