The Public Consultation Forum for Kisumu Central was awkwardly stopped today by the public siting several planning misgivings and grievances not considered.
The meeting did not take off till 12:30 pm and no explanation was made on the way forward by the Ministry of Communication, Economic, Planning and Development. The meeting that was meant to start at 10:00 am did not commence prompting the public to convene an impromptu meeting to establish a petition and press statement.
The public being temporarily chaired by Tillen came to this conclusion after the realization that the meeting was not being taken seriously with the public saying that the county had rushed to convene the meeting publishing an advertisement on the Standard Media Newspaper the previous day, 25th February 2014 stating the meeting was to be held the following day, 26th February 2014. He stated clearly, that wasn’t enough time to convene a public hearing and collect opinions and that they, the public would not be used to rubber stamp the process without thorough consultation.
The public also questioned why the Ministry was in a hurry to commence the meeting siting the Public Finance Management Act of 1st April 2010.
A myriad of questions were asked in a petition meant to reach the County Government and its Honorable members hopefully to find resolutions to their questions and find an amicable solution.
