Kisumu County Assembly is set to be opened tomorrow just a week after County Governor Jack Ranguma failed to turn up for the opening.
Ranguma was expected to address Kisumu County Assembly last Tuesday but failed to show up after a number of MCAs who are against the embattled Speaker Ann Adul boycotted the occasion.
Adul later went ahead to open the session with only 13 MCAs allied to her but Kisumu Court of Appeal later on Thursday barred her from conducting any business in the assembly.
Industrial Court had reinstated her but MCAs who are against her leadership appealed the decision and were granted orders barring Adul from the assembly.
MCAs of the Kisumu County Assembly allied to Ranguma led by majority leader and temporary Speaker Samuel Ongou and Gabriel Ochieng respectively have now organized a new opening of the assembly.
In the appeals order, judges ordered that Speakers’ Panel be allowed to proceed with the assembly activities until the case against Adul is heard and determined.
However, Gabriel Ochieng is not in the Speaker’s Panel and there are fears he might proceed with the grand opening of the assembly tomorrow.
Deputy Speaker Pamela Omino who is allied to Adul says they are only three of them in the Speakers’ Panel and Ochieng will be going against the court order if he goes ahead to open the assembly.
Omino says the MCAs allied to Ranguma have rejected her plans to be the Speaker in tomorrows opening of the Kisumu County Assembly.
