Kisumu residents cannot further explain to the county the importance of a solution to the growing and sprawling Garbage Menace that has hit our beloved county, engineering to deface it and all who are in support of a clean well managed city Kisumu.
For lack of a better word, I will resort to a more simple and objective statement acceptable to all “The garbage site is a hindrance to future growth and the development of Kisumu by investors in that area, a far cry to the lives we are living in the 21st century given the recycling technology we have today, a catalyst to several diseases, a breeding ground for cartels and many more ideas that may be viably corrupt, illegal or undemocratic in the future.
The funny thing about human nature is that man can adapt to weird and unacceptable situations including comfortably living lavishly in a City under Siege from this garbage menace.
The backbone of our Kisumu economy is built by the middle class who may be African or Asians enjoying the glaring smell emanating from this disaster called garbage. The voice of the middle class against continued neglect of the garbage site needs to be heard, to further open up space for growth and development.
Why is it such a tall order for the County Administration to structure our garbage collection and processing system? Are there benefits residents don’t know about? Are we receiving revenue or is someone doing it on our behalf?
These are the fundamental questions picking at our minds given it unfortunately houses street kids whom the county has refused to carefully handle and provide for given they are just a handful.
So garbage may just as well be an asset if collected and processed in an organized manner meant for recycle and reuse but history has proven our political leadership too creative.
“Leveraging on opportunities such as these to find policy solutions may or may not attract voters and politicians”
A promise to solve Garbage menace is countered by a promise to remain a politician, promising lip service to a county that needs actions and resolution.
Playing the political card at every given moment to win the proverbial seat. Do not be cheated, politics is a game of promise and perception based on factual problems but little or no resolution.
Connected Organizations and the County Government need to up there game coming together to find lasting solutions, Kisumu residents need to voice their concerns and our beloved excellency the Governor Jack Ranguma needs to make the these garbage collection and processing recommendations work.
Hail our Excellency the Governor! Hail Kisumu City! Hail its Residents for accepting this garbage menace.
