Over 1,400 secondary school students from Awendo constituency benefited from Ksh. 7.3 Million bursary to continue with their education courtesy of Awendo constituency development funds (CDF).
The bright but needy students from secondary schools within Awendo constituency received the full bursary after thorough vetting by a select board in Awendo.
Speaking during the function at Kwoyo Kodalo secondary school, the area Member of Parliament hon. Jared Kopiyo said that no child will sit at home because of lack of school fees in his tenure.
He asked the constituents to promote education at all levels saying local initiatives like fund drives will also be encouraged.
Hon. Kopiyo said he won’t allow distracted from different regions to interfere with his developmental projects citing that any leader in need of projects must follow the legal procedure and his CDF team will attend to them.
He was responding to some of the local leaders whom he said are spreading rumors that he channels his development agender to certain parts of the constituency and sidelining others asking for peaceful coexistence amongst the constituents.
The legislator said he will not allow corrupt local leaders aiming at the constituency funds for their own benefits asking them to point out projects and will be funded accordingly.
