Drama was at the county assembly when lobby group stormed the Kisumu Assembly premises and locked the gates to demand serenity, respect to the female warning them to stop persistent wrangles within seven days or petition the president to form a commission of inquiry to disband this government.
The group under the umbrella body Kisumu County Civil Society Forum locked the gates to bar the speaker and other members of the county assembly from accessing the premises.
“We lock these gates today to demonstration situation of a failed institution that are just persistence to violence, power wrangles, corruption and more so misrepresentation of the people and the worst thing they don’t respect women in this assembly,” said Audi Ogada.
The lobby said that the corruption in the assembly is too deep that and is the course all of these since they eat and forget value of the money to reflect into the project they are undertaking.
The lobby said in their press statement read by Erick Okello that they need respect for all elected women without any demining or looking down upon them.
“We demand respect to the female gender and the minority group in the assembly and condemn in the strongest term possible the physical assault to the deputy speaker Pamela Josy” reads parts of the statement”. Statement reads on its parts
This comes only two days when Pamela Josy was rushed to the hospital after she was involved in a tussle with sergeants-at-arms who were barring her from chairing the session that day.
The scuffle took almost two-hour standoff when Josy declined to allow acting speaker Gabriel Ochieng from chairing the session.
After wide consultations, the MCAs agreed to allow Samuel Ombogo who is in the speaker’s panel to lead the members during the session against the wish of Omino.
As the mace was being taken in the assembly by the sergeant at arm for the start of the session, Jossy joined the line and was intercepted by a sergeant at arm who wrestled her to the ground.
She started writhing in pain while wailing uncontrollably before she was taken outside the assembly hall and driven to the hospital for further check up, where she is still lying.
On the hospital be Josy still maintains that she is the duly elected deputy speaker and in the absence of the speaker she is the rightful person to take charge.
Moments after Kisumu Assembly majority leader drove in where some of the lobby group members standing and demanded to know who wanted to engages him in the fight.
On his arrival he was speaking on phone when some strange men come and surrounded him as he was walking towards the lobby members
As he was exchanging harsh words with members of the public he said that there is no body that can shake him as he continues to use some abusive language while bringing the issue of clanism in it.
We know what is happening here what are his agendas here in Kisumu, he “Raila” only wants to divide us but we want to tell him that we will remain static as jokano” said furious assembly majority leader Samuel Ong’ow
