A man escaped death narrowly after he attempted to commit suicide by cutting his throat with a panga when his wife left him for another man.
Joseph Onyango ran out of control on Saturday after his wife left him and went to her aunt in Amoyo Sub location, Nyatike Sub County.
According to a villager Deo Mola, the angry man went to the homestead and insisted he wanted his wife to accompany him back to her matrimonial home.
Mola said the man created uproar at the homestead and when he was threatened to be ejected forcefully by the ladies brother he dashed into one of the granaries in the compound.
The enraged man later took a sharp (machete (panga) from the granary and started cutting off his neck and threatening to kill himself if not given his wife back.
Villagers who arrived at the scene managed to tilt the granary and remove him after he became unconscious from profuse bleeding.
Amoyo Sub-location Public Administrator Lillian Dola said the man was rushed to Migori Level Four Hospital.
The man was said to attack health workers after regaining consciousness after which he jumped off the fence and stormed away on the same day.
