An 8 year old girl last lost her life mysteriously when she slipped and submerged in 11 feet deep murram quarry where murram was harvested for the construction of road at Nyabisawa, village, Suna East Constituency Migori County.
The deceased, Anne Chris Otieno who is reported to have been playing with other two minors near the murram quarry is the second child in a time span of less than two months dying in the same dam.
Joseph Otieno an eyewitness and also one of the owners of the excavated land said that the Chinese Construction Company known as China Hu-Wii had a contract with them for harvesting the murram but ended last year and the company ought to have refilled the dam after the contract.
Otieno said that the families have been appealing to the company to refill the excavation as was indicated in their contract but the company has been adamant despite their several pleas.
This death also comes barely a month after fives family member died mysteriously when the vehicle they were travelling plunged into a murram quarry where murram was being excavated in Suna East Constituency.
Attempt to reach the construction company remained futile as they could not be reached on phone.
