Mt Kenya University (MKU) has set aside KES. 300 million to construct an ultra-modern tower campus in Kisumu City. According to the University Chairman Dr. Simon Gicharu, the construction of a campus in the lake side city is part of their expansion plan.
Gicharu said the university has attracted a large number of students owing to its affordable rate and above all parents and students will be given humble time to pay fees.
Speaking to Kisumu News in Kisumu, Gicharu said that currently they have 15 campuses across the country and the University intends to expand its more branches to avail education to the people.
He disclosed that Mt Kenya University Kisumu Campus is operational and has more than 500 students with a target of 5,000 students has need to construct their own building.
Gicharu further noted that they are focused to offer quality education by investing on technologies in line with Vision 2030.
He said that last year, MKU, a private owned institution was ranked position eight out of 63 universities in Kenya which is a right direction that the university is taking and further applauded its management.
Gicharu said that they are optimistic to post good ranking in the coming years with the expansion program that aims to attract more students.
Mt Kenya University (MKU) opened a new education centre in Kisumu as a satellite institution of MKU Kakamega Campus.
But today, MKU has since seen its move to Kisumu bear fruit as student’s flock their classes, which necessitates the addition of an ultra-modern tower campus in Kisumu City.
This comes only a few months when Mt Kenya University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stanley Waudo was optimistic that the new centre will enable Kisumu citizens and registered students access to a wide range of academic programs as well as well equipped library facilities offered by the institution.
The Kisumu MKU centre which is which is today offering courses in Certificate, Diploma, Post Graduate, Bachelor, Masters and PHDs in Business Administration and Marketing, Education, Early Chidhood, Community Development, Business Information Technology and many more.
The institution has also been greatly involved in community development in the country including the recently KES. 10 million donation towards the National Water Summit.
MKU whose main campus is located in Thika Kiambu County has also opened a new campus in Kitale and now has a plan to build its own campus in the region.
This move follows Nairobi University whose 23 storey building is underway and Maseno which its main headquarters are located in the lake side city of Kisumu.
