National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has raised red flag over the penetration of hard drugs in Kisumu country.
The authority Western regional coordinator Selim Okenye says they are worried about the source of such drugs in the lakeside city.
Okenye said hard drugs like heroin and cocaine are now available in Kisumu and this was found out following an intensive research that was carried out in the region.
She called for a concerted effort to stamp out such hard drugs from the region, seal out the inlets and arrest the perpetrators behind its circulation.
Speaking during the flagging off of a caravan to preach about the dangers of these hard drugs in the county, Okenye said the youth are vulnerable to be introduced into hard drugs.
Kisumu County Governor Jack Ranguma who presided over the flagging off announced that there are funds for women, youth and the disabled persons aimed at addressing drug abuse in the society.
He said such funds should benefit the intended persons and urged them to come forward and apply for such funds.
Ranguma said drug addicts should be assisted and their lives saved from hard drugs.
