NO NAIROBI MEETING, GOVERNOR OBADO TELLS MPS

Migori County Governor Zachary Okoth Obado boldly tells Migori MPs that he will attend No Nairobi Meeting. The meeting was being called by the Migori County Parliamentary Group, in Nairobi.

He said that there is no need for the MPs to call for a meeting in Nairobi yet the same can be held in Migori.

Let me refute that the claims to hold County Development Meeting in Nairobi, they better come here, because these MPs have been snubbing our functions like when we went to hand our over apologies to the president, they told me that, that is a county government function so let me remind them if they want to hold a meeting let them come here where their electorate are, Zachary Obado Migori Governor

He said the Office of the Governor is geographically situated in Migori and if the MPs want to meet the governor then they are free to walk in any time they want and not summoning him to Nairobi insisting that he has a mandate to serve the Migori County residents thus he shall execute without fear or favor.

Obado, the only governor with a PDP ticket in the ODM stronghold Nyanza region has recently gone on record for accepting to work with the Jubilee government, a matter that has not been taken kindly by the ODM leaders in the region.

He however downplayed claims that there was a rift between the Migori County Governement and the elected MPs from Migori County.

I want to say here categorically that there is no rift between the county government and the National government officials but there are some misdirected opinion among st elected members of the parliament, said Obado

He noted that he has no problem with the MPs but there are a few who are driven by self-interests and they have got no agenda for the public.

He however asked legislatures not to hoodwink the public over their thinking and ideology terming their relationship is cordial.

Let them not hoodwink the public that there is a big miss understanding between us and the National Government is very cordial and am not saying all of them but a few, Obado

According to some of Migori County residents led by politicians Kennedy Nyamula and Duncan Mbewa Okoth, the two parties are battling for the supremacy in the region.

Nyamula said the two parties have all forgotten their constitutional obligations insisting that none of them can summon the other but the best they can do is to serve the people who elected them.

He said there is County Development Board which can organize a meeting to bring the two together and negotiate.

The meeting called by the Migori legislators, according to Uriri MP John Kobado is a gesture that the two parties have resorted to work together for the betterment of Migori County.

Kobado said they want to ensure that the county government works together with the national government leaders, and to iron out any differences that may exist between the national leaders and the county government leaders.
