Residences of Nyalenda have lost properties worth millions of shillings after a series of demolitions were implemented to pave way for roads in the estate.
Roads connecting from Kilo to other parts of Nyalenda such as Ring road, Piccadilly were approved for expansion and upgrade which are under the county plans to expand its roads networks in the city.
This plan come after the residents association agreed to leave least 10 meters each from their plots wide to allow for easy travel for commuters and motorists as also acknowledged by the roads plans in the city
The demolition which started last week Friday drew the residence attention, gathering around to see the big crane take down houses of neighbors and friends in the wake of county development and devolution implementation.
The demolition brought about divergent views from the community some claiming that it was going to create a lot of losses to an already economically struggling community while some applauded the move as pragmatic for future development.
from the looks we are going to lose a lot of properties yet we have been struggling to bring these kind of development if we continue to go this way we will lose morale to invest into our County, said Otieno Richard Nyalenda Resident.
