The County Government of Nyamira has pledge to help push for the payment of all the IDPs in entire county so that they can continue with their normal life in the area.
Led by the County Governor Mr. John Nyangarama who spoke when the IDPs were peacefully demonstrating in Nyamira County said that his office is wide open for any kind of development in that will uplift the lives in the Nyamira County.
My office is wide open and will do everything possible to make sure that any IDP will get full compensation as was agreed by the national government to pay them some amountsaid Mr. John Nyangarama Governor Nyamira County.
He said that even the 410 thousand shillings he is ready to bring it on the discussion table with the line ministry to find amicable solution to the payment problem of the IDPs in his county.
The Governor who was accompanied by some of his Cabinet Ministers, Leader of Majority in the County Parliament as well as some of the county representatives in the county assembly expressed their feeling in the embarking in the IDPs issue for full implementation.
This happened during the IDPs officials meeting with the Governor in governor’s board room to seek audience to clarify on how they can work together with the IDPs in the county so as they can be compensated fully.
It seems that there will be a problem when the time of compensation come, this is because the officials in the governor office says they were only 27 IDPs in the whole county, while the IDP chairman insist that they are more than ten thousand IDPs in the Nyamira county alone and they will not allow to be lured to accept such a small number to be compensated a process that will leave many IDPs out of compensation list.
We tell our leaders that we are not 27 IDPs in this County, we more than ten thousand people who were affected and waits the payment of 410,000 by the governmentsays the secretary Mr. Andrew Bwae.
This comes barley months after the President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto launched a Sh3.2 billion cash payment program for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
The money which was set aside IDPs payment so that Kenyans can live together peacefully as united people who are prepared to chart their own fate.
Previously the senators also acknowledged this last year 2013 during their house debate that thousands of persons displaced are now living in deplorable conditions after loss of property and disruption of livelihood and wanted the government to come to rescue the people who were affected.
It come before the president and his deputy come together to launch the kitty where all the IDPs were to be compensated from
Despite the terrain that the Nyamira County IDPs face, they vow to soldier on with their push to get paid like other IDPs in the Rift Valley and Central province who have received payments for their loses.
We will fight to the end so that our members be paid by the government under the kitty which we also paying tax to, we want that money and if they think that we are going to be demoralized with their acts, we tell them to forget and starts planning to pay us toosaid Nyakundi the Secretary to the IDPs in Nyamira.
If the National Government can’t hear our cries then we plan to call all the county leaders at one of the camps which was closed to chart the way forward.
