A suspected thief was lynched and a house burnt by angry residents who discovered his hideout at East Karungu Location, Nyatike Constituency this afternoon.
The suspect whose name has not been established but is said to be a resident of Kamagambo Village, Rongo Constituency is reported to have
been hiding in one of the homes in Nyatike after stealing from the residents.
According to an eye witness, Mr. Aluoch Jakiranda, the suspect was found at the resident of Mr. Ochilo Ondiek where it is suspected to be his hideout and was lynched by the angry mob who trailed him after getting a tip off.
Aluoch said that the suspect was killed by the angry villagers who then forced the owner of the home Mr. Ochilo to set blaze the deceased and also his son’s house where the suspect was found.
Confirming the incident, Nyatike Police Boss, Mr.Dishon Chebaka said that the deceased was lynched by the villagers who discovered him at his hideout.
Mr. Chebaka however said that he has already sent a team consisting of the police officers and CIDs to investigate the matter so that they can ascertain the genesis of the matter.
The body of the deceased is preserved at St. Camulus Mortuary as the investigation gears on.
