Migori County residents are crying foul of a looming water crisis amid the drought spell being experienced in the region and it’s environs.
The residents who claims that they have to walk for more than one kilometre distance to fetch for water claims that the County Government has placed water reservoirs very distant from the residential places hence they cannot access the water easily.
Timothy Otieno a resident and a business man in Migori town claims that he cannot get a continuous supply of water yet he stays within town where the water supply should be stable.
The residents claimed that the water crisis is a long overdue problem in the County despite they outcry to the County Government.
They are now calling upon the County Government to channel more funds to water sector so that water supply can be made constant in the county.
Chief Officer in the Ministry of Water, Mrs. Easter Elizabeth refuted the claims saying that Migori County has adequate water supply for its residents and there is no course for alarm.
She said the residents should blame themselves for the water crisis saying that people do not want to buy water meters so that the water supply can be brought closer to their residential places.
Easter said that the County Government is currently working on another water project in Isebania to boost water supply in the County.
