CORD leader Raia Odinga has called for peaceful campaigns ahead of coming by-elections in Homa-Bay County and Kajiado Central Constituency.
Raila said that it will be prudent for all candidates both from Jubilee Camp and CORD to maintain peace and tolerance as they go by doing their campaigns.
Speaking during the burial of the Late Alfred Ouyo Odawa in North Alego Ward, Siaya County, the former Premier said they believe in civilized politics of principals hence expressed confidence that CORD will push through well in all the two by-elections.
He reiterated that as CORD they are advocating for peaceful campaigns and condemn any form of violence matted against any of the aspirants.
There is no need of sending hooligans to throw stones against the opponent in this present Kenyan era, leaders should instead engage the voters with their policies. Campaigns should be handled in a civilized manner, said Raila Odinga.
This come in a wake of violence in Homa-Bay County where supporters of both candidates crashed at Olare Centre after the burial of Homa-Bay County Public Service Board Secretary, the late Mrs. Agnes Mc Owalo.
The incident left ODM candidate Moses Kajawang’ with injuries following the hostility from his opponent supporters.
Raila has also told off those insinuating that he should desist from Homa-Bay County election campaigns to pave way for democracy saying, as CORD leader he has the obligation to campaign for his candidate anywhere in the Country.
