Retaliatory Attacks in Kuria West
Police in Kuria West, Migori County have arrested three suspects who were linked to the burning of Ntimaru West Assistant Chief Office earlier this week.
According to Kuria East police boss who is currently manning Kuria West in absence of Kuria West OCPD, Mrs. Gladys Ogonda said that the Assistant Chief whose name has been established as Mr. John Mosabi has been very vocal on the fight of FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) in the area.
He said the attack came following the chief’s participation in the rescue of 800 girls from the axe of FGM three weeks ago in the area.
Mrs. Ogonda said that the chief also denied his daughters from undergoing the FGM and therefore the attack is retaliatory because of his firm stand against the practice of FGM in the area.
Madam Ogonda is now appealing to the Kuria community to stop this act of FGM saying that anyone found will face the full wrath of the law.
She said the three suspects are currently held at Ntimaru Police Station as investigations are underway.
