A family is now appealing to police to help then unravel the death of their daughter who died in a septic tank in Kisumu. Kevin Owila was the guardian of the 16 year old girl who was a class eight candidate at St. Mark Nyabera Primary School.
Mr. Owila said he was called last evening that she had an accident in the school and was rushed to Russia Hospital (Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital). He said he found when the girl had passed away and later recorded statement at the police station.
Speaking to Kisumu News, Owila said the school management has gone underground after the incident.
He says he was restrained from accessing the school to see the septic tank where the young girl collapsed and died.
The grandmother of the child Mary Mirenda who traveled from Gem after getting information of the death of her grandchild and said she is overwhelmed by the loss of her young potential girl.
Mirenda said investigations should be conducted to ascertain what really caused the death.
He left yesterday going to school and I heard rumors from people that the child had died inside a septic tank so I went to Russia and found she was really dead so I went to central police station and found out that the teachers had reported at the station. Now am just wondering why the teachers did not see the urge to contact the parents, guardians’ or find out where the child used to reside, Kevin Owila
