Siaya residents have been assured that they will soon start reaping from the fruits of the foreign trips that the county government has been making to woo investors to come to the region.
The County Executive Committee member for Trade and Industry Mr. Olum Gondi states that the foreign trips which have been made to various parts of the world including the United States of America, India and China among others have been quite successful and their benefits will soon be realized.
We have done all kind of investor’s mobilization and everything is very rosy, the investors that we have so far contacted have agreed to work with Siaya County and they await some small paper work to be done on our side which is set to be concluded soon, so that they start coming in, said Olum
Mr. Olum Gondi who is one of the Senior County Government officials, who accompanied Cord leader Raila Odinga and Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga in a one week trip to China last week, revealed that they presented a lot of development proposals to Chinese investors who have expressed interest in investing in the county.
He mentioned that since investment process in gradual, they still need to make a report on what is required of them in various sectors including agriculture, mining, infrastructure, health, education and industry among others and forward to the investors to see where they can easily chip in.
The CEC has therefore appealed to Siaya residents to maintain patience, stating that since the process of wooing investors is always gradual, there was need for room to complete the process before the county residents can begin feeling the impact of the trips.
We want our people to be patient with us just a little bit we will offer them more than what to chew in the near future, Olum said while chuckling on his office chair.
Gondi, who spoke to Kisumu News reporter in his office while accompanied by the county Director of Communications Mr. Boni Odinga, added that they will still need to go such more trips to woo as many investors as possible in a bid to put Siaya County at par in terms of development.
He stated that most regions of this country had been neglected by the past regimes and the only way they can realize meaningful development is through continuous process of wooing investors.
