Kuria East Member of Parliament Hon. Shadrack Manga has condemned the Female Genital Mutilation practice among the Kuria Community saying that FGM is unnecessary to the Community.
Speaking to Kisumu News on phone, the Member of Parliament eluded the cultural practice to the underdevelopment among the Kuria people.
He said the education among the girls has been very dismal because of the practice that the referred as outmoded saying that majority of the girls drop out of the school at primary level.
Manga said he will always condemned the practice even if it is a matter of the losing his grip in the area.
He said the Kuria Community needs to be told the truth on the dangers of FGM practices so that they can see the sense on why they should abandon this retrogressive culture that has thwarted development among the people.
The legislator confirmed that his daughters did not undergo the practice and therefore he finds it bleak for girls to go through the practice.
Manga is now appealing to the political and church leaders from Kuria community to join hand and stop FGM.
