Traders in Kisumu County working at the Jubilee Market woke up to the shock of an early morning fire razing through their business premises and burning up property worth millions.
According to an eyewitness and one of the owners of the burnt shops at the scene of the fire ,“The fire started at 3:00 a.m and was only put off at 6:00 a.m. after a lengthy wait from the fire brigadiers who managed to come but were soon short of water”.
The fire which damaged at least five shops plus adjacent stalls damaged property worth millions, this is according to one of the shop owners who recounted how she had just brought in goods the previous day and was hoping to sell to pay back her creditors.
The owners of the shops that were burnt said “They hoped that an investigation would be done so as to find out the true story behind the fire”.
