Leaders in Siaya County have been challenged to uphold good governance if they want to effectively achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the Vision 2030.
Siaya County Assembly oversight and implementation committee Chairman Mr. Leonard Oriaro says that Kenya will not realize proper development targets without proper good governance.
Mr. Oriaro who is also the Ward Representative for Central Alego in Alego/Usonga Constituency, regretted that the period within which the MDGs were set to be met has elapsed and nothing has so far been realized.
The MCA who was speaking at at Oseno Komolo during a fundraising in aid of the construction of St. Clair Ndere Catholic Sub-parish in Alego/Usonga Constituency, also challenged the Governors from Luo-Nyanza to start building international links through which they can enhance development in their respective counties.
The legislator lauded the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s relentless efforts of trying to link the Governors with foreign countries like India among others.
The occasion was also graced by Alego/Usonga politician Samuel Atandi who urged leaders to support the development of churches, since churches are the avenues for meeting and addressing issues that affect the local communities.
