Residents of Siaya County have been urged to work hard to ensure the development of the county in order to attract potential investors.
Speaking to the press in Kisumu after arriving from the official visit to India led by the former prime minister and CORD leader Hon. Raila Odinga and the vice chairman-council of governors governor Salim Mvuria
Siaya Coutny Governor Cornel Rasanga said he plans on reviving the Cotton Plantation and Ndere Ginnery, Sugarcane factory, ICT, Mineral Exploitation among other key areas like tourism in the region as he has already put up a strong appeal to investors from India to take the advantage the advantage and revive the Ndere Ginnery and this he says will boost cotton farming in Siaya and thus help generate income for the county.
According to the Governor, the visit to India that saw him meet up with potential investors from New Delhi and Hyderabad state who expressed their interest in areas such as infrastructure development like
We met investos who are willing to help us do our roads, energy generation, availability of raw materials for manufacturing in Siaya, availability of free or cheap land, training needs in ICT, investment, Said Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga
He also said that the opportunities in the health sector within the county, agricultural activities and fish industry as well as the introduction of Bio-toilet in Siaya that requires no septic tank but can be used to produce bio-gas using bio-digester as under this technology, water can be obtained and used for irrigation and cleaning purposes.
Other areas that I put up a strong appeal during my meeting with the Indian businessmen and investors included the need for fruit processing, ground nuts factory, motorcycle factory and putting up modern hospital facilities through a public private partnership, Rasanga added.
The governor further assured residents of the county that his office will vigorously make follow ups to ensure the realization of success in the investment areas mentioned if not all.
